Mother killer in for 10 yrs

A SMALL scale farmer of Chief Kanongesha in Solwezi who beat his mother to death has been locked up for 10 years with hard labour and ordered to receive 10 strokes of the cane. Mr Justice Muyinda Wanki sitting in Solwezi on Monday jailed Fred Muke, 19, of Kafumbata village after he admitted the offence. Muke was charged with the murder of his mother Achele Samakayi on April 4 this year. The State reduced the charge from murder to manslaughter to which he pleaded guilty. It was established that Muke was demanding K8,000 from his step-father. When he did not give him the money, he was enraged and threw a brick at him but it missed him. His mother then intervened and asked Muke to kill her instead of her husband. Muke pounced on his mother beating her mercilessly kicking and hitting her until she collapsed and lost consciousness.
