Pretoria News, 12 October 1981Theft: Youths get cutsCourt Reporter Two youths were sentenced to cuts in a Pretoria Regional Court, after they were convicted of stealing money. The court heard that Jacobus Laubscher Kotze (20) of 62A Athlone Avenue, Springs, had broken into a workshop in Voortrekkerhoogte between October 1 and 2. He stole R560. Kotze pleaded guilty to housebreaking with the intent to steal and theft. He gave Marcus William Oliver (19) of plot 2, Welverdiend, R150 so that he would not tell anyone about the crime. Kotze was sentenced to seven cuts with a light cane. He had previous convictions for theft. Oliver, who was a first offender, was given four cuts on the theft charge. Mr A.F. Snyman was on the Bench and Mr H. van Rensburg prosecuted. |
