Another group caning session

This mass punishment of 12 male teenage students is taking place in what looks like an engineering lab, possibly at a boys' technical college.
Each youth receives one brisk posterial stroke of the cane in the typical Thai position of standing up straight with arms folded.
Some recipients are seen to grimace as the cane makes its impact, and several are briefly clutching their buttocks as they leave the scene. However, they are clearly not in great distress and this is not a very severe punishment. The atmosphere seems routine and matter-of-fact: the boys appear to be familiar with the procedure.
Other students are enjoying the spectacle from a corridor outside the glass wall of the lab.
