FREMONT, O., June 7. -- An old-fashioned wooden paddle is now part of the equipment in the juvenile court of Judge John Bronson of Sandusky County. Judge Bronson said today that he purchased the paddle for his court recently and that it has already been used on four boys from Fremont who set fire to in old barn on the Fremont Ross High School property. Judge Bronson said the paddling was administered to the boys by Dee Pinneo, the court's juvenile officer, in the presence of their parents after he ordered the treatment. The four boys were surprised when they heard the ruling, the judge said. Three other boys also were involved in the case but they were not spanked. Those that did receive the wooden paddle treatment ranged in age from 12 to 15. Judge Bronson said the paddle was used as an experiment in this particular case and will be available if the court finds it is needed in other cases. |
