Prisoner birched after attack

An order for 10 strokes of the birch, made by the Board of Visitors at Camp Hill Prison, Isle of Wight, and confirmed by the Home Secretary, was carried out yesterday on John Stewart Williams, aged 23. Williams, who is serving three years' corrective training for housebreaking, attacked a warder.
