20-year-old beats mother, appears in court

NHLANGANO - A 20-year-old youth of Mhlosheni under Chief Magoloza appeared before Swazi court president Oswald Sithole charged with assault with an intention to cause bodily harm.

Derrick Mabuza allegedly assaulted his mother Paulinah Mabuza, on 16 December 1999 at their homestead, punched her on the right check and the defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge. He was therefore sentenced to six strokes with a cane for his offence.
