Butcher jailed for having sex with sheep

An 18-year-old butcher, Abdullahi Idris, who recently had sex with a sheep at the Chanchaga abattoir in Niger State, has been sentenced to three months imprisonment by a Minna Chief Magistrates' Court.

The convict, who was given 30 strokes of the cane, was also ordered by the Chief Magistrate, Alhaji Yinusa Kutigi, to sign a bond to be of good behaviour for the next one year.

He was found guilty of committing an “unnatural offence contrary to Section 204 of the penal code. Kutigi, who tried the convict two weeks ago when he was first arraigned, reserved his ruling till yesterday to enable the police to conclude investigations into the matter.

When the case re-opened on Monday, the chief magistrate said the attitude of the accused was unbecoming of a normal human being, but gave him an option of fine — N4,000 — in lieu of the three-month prison sentence.

Inspector Oghiokijaie Alphonsus had arrested the convict at the Chanchaga abattoir two weeks ago after he allegedly had sex with the sheep resulting in the death of the animal.
