Youth sentenced for carrying ammunition
HAIFA, Monday. -- Ahmed Ibrahim Zamle, 17, of Baqa Gharbieh, near Tulkarm, was sentenced to one year's imprisonment and six strokes of the birch for carrying rifle ammunition, and Mohammed Said il Issa was acquitted of the same charge by the Military Court sitting here today.
After hearing the evidence of four prosecution witnesses and the summing up, the Court found the accused Guilty, reserving sentence until after the hearing of the case of the supposed confederate, the second accused.
Mohammed Said il Issa was then tried on the same charge. It was alleged that he induced Ahmed Zamil to plant the ammunition in the home of his master, one Mohammed Hassan el Mustapha.
The previous accused gave evidence stating that he (the witness) had lied in his statement to the police incriminating the second accused and the Court acquitted the prisoner for lack of evidence and sentenced the first accused. The next case before the Haifa Military Court will be heard on Wednesday when Mahmud Hussein Abdul Khalout, of Tira village, will be tried for malicious damage to telephone wires.
