(From Our Own Correspondent) Jaffa, Wednesday. -- Four boys were charged before Commander Bodilly, the Chief Magistrate, today with larceny and were sentenced to strokes of the birch. One of the boys is to receive 12 strokes, another 6 and the other [sic] 4. The case was heard in camera. The Magistrate recommended that the boys be sent out of town to a village to escape the atmosphere of the city. In connection with this case a carpenter, Silberberg was charged with having sent one of the boys to commit a theft. One of the accused testified that Silberman [sic] had told him to steal a gramophone but he had stolen a typewriter instead. Silberberg was discharged for lack of evidence. |
