Saudi Arabia: School caning

Saudi Arabia is well known for its judicial floggings, less so for school CP. In fact, although it is not prohibited by law, school CP has for many years been outlawed by Ministry of Education regulations, apparently even in private schools.

This theoretical ban turns out, as in so many countries, not to be properly enforced. The video clip below, from 2014, shows 13 boys of varying ages in white Muslim dress filing past a teacher for one stroke of the cane each. Most of them swiftly clutch their buttocks after being disciplined. This is a fairly rare instance in the Middle East of CP being applied specifically to the posterior, the cultural norm in the Arab world being to punish on the hands, feet or back.
