Palestine - School caning
In the city of Ramallah in 2014, a stern teacher punishes seven male high-school students in the classroom. The first five are caned on the hand, one stroke each. This is a foolish and dangerous practice, but seems to be the normal method in the Arab world. But when it comes to the sixth lad, he appears to be asking the master to be punished posterially, possibly to save his hands from injury -- a wise youth. Accordingly, the last two lads receive one solid whack each on the seat of their jeans in a standing position.
The implement used is an unsuitably heavy and rigid thick stick rather than a proper rattan cane. The atmosphere is entirely serious.
