Ecuador - public whipping of male and female offenders: three clips.
CLIP 1 OF 3
A 3-minute local TV item (in Spanish) from Ecuador shows several offenders being stripped, whipped and humiliated in a public display of community punishment in 2007. The proceedings appear to be quite rough-and-ready, without much formal ceremony or standardised modus operandi.
There is no JCP in official Ecuadorian law but, rather as in Guatemala, the judicial system allows indigenous communities not served by police forces to apply vigilante justice as a form of traditional law, and public humiliation and beatings are reportedly common in remote areas.

CLIP 2 OF 3
More Ecuadorian tribal justice along similar lines to the above. This clip (from 2009 or earlier) is also 3 minutes long. The two young male offenders being punished were said to be robbers. We see them subjected to a series of ordeals, including whipping on the buttocks in their underpants.

CLIP 3 OF 3
In Chimborazo province, two youths are publicly punished in this 90-second news clip from Ecuadorian TV (April 2010). They get whipped with a rope across the seat of their underpants and also, later, with bunches of nettles on their backs and thighs. This is a tribal punishment for cattle rustling. One of the culprits appears to be full of tearful remorse.
