Tuition teacher who molested 3 pupils jailed
The married man will also get 24 cane strokes for outraging the modesty of two girls aged eight and one aged 13

Court CorrespondentA TUITION teacher who molested three of his young pupils repeatedly was sentenced to five years' jail and the maximum 24 strokes of the cane yesterday.
Khong Pek Mao, 35, committed 27 molestation offences at the tuition centre over almost a year.
He admitted to seven counts of outraging the modesty of three girls, two aged eight and one aged 13, at Block 477, Tampines Street 43 between February and May this year. The other 20 charges were taken into consideration.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Alvin Chen said that one of the victims, aged eight, told her mother on May 27 that she did not want to attend any more tuition lessons.
The court heard that she was having English tuition with the other eight-year-old victim and a boy on May 25. After the other two children had left and as she was doing some writing exercises, Khong placed his left foot under the table and molested her with his toes.
He also molested her on May 11 and March 24.
On April 21, Khong was giving maths and Chinese tuition to her and the other eight-year-old when he used his right foot to molest both.
In June last year, Khong placed his hand under a 13-year-old pupil's shirt and molested her while he was giving her maths tuition.
His lawyer, Mr Lee Teck Leng, said in mitigation that since the offences came to light, his client, who is married, had lost all his students and his tuition business.
A government psychiatrist found that, at the time of the offences, Khong was under severe stress, caused by the death of his mother and his financial problems, Mr Lee said.
Another psychiatrist said Khong was very introverted, emotionally inhibited, lonely, and had no close friends.
Pressing for a stiff sentence, DPP Chen said Khong had outraged the modesty of three vulnerable victims repeatedly between June last year and May this year.
He said 122 people had been molested in Singapore between January and May. And, Over the past two years, the police had arrested 10 teachers and tuition teachers for outrage of modesty.

Jail, Cane For Anal Sex, Robbery
A BOUNCER sodomised his friend to punish him for telling the police he was involved in drugs, which caused him to spend four months in remand.
Although Mohammed Shahdat Mohamed Kemarudin, 30, was not charged with any offence, he felt an 'overwhelming urge' to teach his friend a lesson, his lawyer S.S. Dhillon told the High Court yesterday.
He also robbed his victim of $50, forced him to perform oral sex on him, and extorted $5,000 from him.
Under a court order, the 26-year-old victim, a tattoo artist, cannot be named.
Yesterday, Mohammed Shahdat, a part-time pub bouncer with a string of convictions for drug offences and theft, was jailed for 12 years and ordered to be given 16 strokes of the cane after he pleaded guilty to having anal sex, robbing and extorting.
Another charge for oral sex was taken into consideration.
