Indian flogged for sacrilege

SUDAIR, 20 January 2003 - An Indian worker in Roudhat Sudair, 150 km north of Riyadh, was sentenced to 70 lashes in public and deportation by a Shariah court here for urinating on the walls of a mosque. The man, a non-Muslim tailor, was proved guilty of repeating the sacrilegious act several times with malicious intention. He was flogged at the courtyard of the Sabeen Mosque in Roudhat Sudair. Security agencies are now taking steps to deport him.
