Jailed and rotan for raping little girls

TAWAU: Three men were jailed 10 years each for raping two little girls in Lahad Datu last year.

Sessions Court Judge See Mee Chun also ordered Zulkifly Retly, 22, Salim Nasirin, 26 and Ibnu Hassan Saibul, 28, to be given five strokes of the cane each for the offence under Section 376 of the Penal Code.

In the first case, Zulkifly admitted raping his eight-year-old niece, while Salim and Ibnu in a separate joint charge admitted raping Salim's 11-year-old sister.

Zulkifly's misdeed was exposed after the girl related the incident to her father, Prosecuting Officer ASP Lukas Aket told the court.

He said the girl's father took her to hospital on May 13 after she complained of abdominal pain and a discharge from her private part.

According to Lukas, the victim's father lodged a police report the same day after a doctor told him that penetration had taken place.

After some questioning, the girl finally related her ordeal to her father.

She claimed that Zulkifly had also raped her twice in two days last year, but she could not recall the date and time.

Zulkifly, who is a cousin of the victim's father, was arrested later that day at an unnumbered house in Kampung Puyut, Lahad Datu.

In another case, Salim admitted raping his 11-year-old sister several times at Kampung Sri Hak, Lahad Datu, last year while his brother-in-law Ibnu committed the offence in the same place some time in January, this year.

The girl related her harrowing experience to her father's sister on May 7.

The father then lodged a police report on May 13.

According to Lukas, Salim and Ibnu committed the offence in the absence of other family members.

Salim was picked up at Sahabat 2, Blok 4, Felda Tungku, in Lahad Datu, while Ibnu was arrested at the Tungku police station, the same day following the police report.

They were charged under Section 376 of the Penal Code which carries a jail term of between five and 20 years plus whipping upon conviction.

Jail and rotan for father, son who raped girl

MUAR, Fri. - The Sessions Court today sentenced man and his son to 20 years' and 15 years' jail respectively for raping a 12-year-old girl.

Sessions Court Judge Mohd Amin Firdaus Abdullah also ordered Bahari Songsang, 48, an estate lorry driver, and his son Saiful, 21, a labourer, to be given five and three strokes of the rotan respectively.

He ordered that the sentences be served from the date of arrest on June 6 this year. The victim is the daughter of Bahari's second wife.

In passing sentence, Mohd Amin Firdaus said although it was the first offence for both the accused, he viewed it as a very serious one.

Both accused, who claimed trial earlier, pleaded guilty when the case was heard today. They were not represented.

Bahari was alleged to have raped his step-daughter aged 12 years and 10 months between April 4 and June 6 this year in a bush at Jementah estate, while Saiful had raped the girl between October 1997 and April 1998 in the Welch Estate in Jementah.
