Man gets 12 years for raping sisters

A charcoal dealer was yesterday jailed for 12 years for raping two sisters.

Chimera Kazungu, 20, will also receive six strokes of the cane.

Kazungu raped the two school girls, aged 15 and 18, at Katsimba village in Samburu Division, Kwale, on January 11.

He was armed with a panga and went to the girls' home at 7 pm, forced his way in, and raped them.

Kazungu said he was drunk but Senior Principal Magistrate George Aburili said his action was beastly.

In the same court, a farmer was jailed for seven years for attempting to rape a 20-year-old woman.

Mr Aburili also ordered Gaspery Kenga Katana to receive four strokes of the cane and pay Sh1,000 or serve three months imprisonment in default.

Mr Katana had pleaded guilty to a charge of attempting to rape the woman at Chilulu village in Kilifi District on January 6.
