Rustler Jailed for 10 Years

A bandit accused of stealing 99 heads of cattle last month was yesterday jailed for 10 years by a Maua court.

David Lekoloi from Samburu District was also ordered by Principal Magistrate Mr Njuguna Kimani to receive six strokes of the cane with hard labour.

Lekoloi had been charged with stealing 24 cows, 70 goats and five donkeys all valued at Sh200,000 belonging to Mr Cyprian M'Mukiri.

The offence was committed last January 9, at around 11am within the Kalau grazing area in Kangeta location.

The court heard that the police were able to track down the animals to Archers Post in Samburu District. However, none of the stolen animals was recovered.
