23-year-old man gets 12 strokes of cane for stealing motorcycle in Ibadan

An Iyaganku Chief Magistrate Court in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital has ordered one Mr. Agbola Ibrahim (23) to be given 12 strokes of cane at open court for allegedly attempting to steal brand new unregistered Bajaj motorcycle.
The Chief Magistrate, A.A. Adebisi gave this order in his judgement when Ibrahim was arraigned in the court on Friday.
Ibrahim DAILY POST learnt was arrested by police and arraigned at the Magistrate Court 2, Iyanganku Ibadan.
He was nabbed when he was trying to steal the unregistered motorcycle.
Ibrahim who pleaded guilty was arraigned on one count charge of stealing, with charge No: MI/1555/2017.
The Police prosecutor, Mr. Shalewa Hammed told the court that the accused on the 23rd of August 2017 at about 2pm at Mokola Area of Ibadan magisterial district did have in his possession one unregistered Bajaj motorcycle valued two hundred and fifty thousand (250,000).
Hammed said that the offence contravened section 430 of the criminal Code ,Cap 38, Vol. II, Laws of Oyo State of Nigeria 2000.
