By Our Reporter
A man who was allegedly nabbed stealing a bunch of matooke from an army officer's banana plantation at Port Bell UPDF Marines detach, April 5, suffered 40 strokes of the cane.
Kyaterekera Kojja (19) was nabbed by one Nalongo Kempeta as he felled the bunch of matooke at around 6.00 a.m.
The plantation belongs to the detach's political commissar (PC), Lawrence Mutemba Ntare.
Eyewitnesses said Kempeta alerted Mutemba who arrived with soldiers. The soldiers chased Kyaterekera across the railway line before he was intercepted with his loot by a patrolling LDU, one Mukasa.
He was taken with his loot hanging from his neck to the army detach where he was given 40 strokes.
He was then rolled in mud, and made to slash the detach's compound.
