JEDDAH, 2 October -- Fourteen young Saudi men have each received 15 lashes in public outside the schools where they were caught harassing girls, Okaz newspaper reported yesterday. The men, aged 16 to 30, were arrested by special squads outside several schools in the holy city of Madinah.

Man flogged for slandering official

MADINAH, 8 October -- A Saudi guilty of making scandalous accusations against a government official has been sentenced to flogging and jail, according to an official source. The accusations are related to a five-year dispute between the man found guilty and the government official. The Shariah court sentenced the culprit after finding that his repeated complaints against the official were baseless.

RIYADH, 13 October -- Authorities in the Saudi capital have flogged 29 young men, including seven expatriates, for harassing girls in shopping areas and outside schools, a newspaper reported yesterday. The men were arrested last week by special squads deployed in markets and at major shopping centers and each given 15 lashes after receiving a first warning, Al-Riyadh daily said. Authorities warned the men that they would be sent to jail if they repeat the offense.

RIYADH, 26 October -- Sixty-three young men, including 10 expatriates, have been flogged in public in the Saudi capital for harassing girls in shopping areas and outside schools, a newspaper reported Thursday. The men were arrested last week by special squads deployed in markets and at major shopping centers and each given 15 lashes after failing to heed a first warning, Al-Riyadh daily said.
