Gets Ten Straps, Also Five Years

Five years in Kingston penitentiary on each of six counts, three years on a sixth and two on a seventh, to run concurrently, with ten strokes of the strap at the end of the second month's imprisonment, was the sentence given to Russell McKenzie by Judge Coatsworth in general sessions to-day.

The eight charges are of breaking into houses and committing serious offenses. On three of them life imprisonment might be given, his honor stated.

McKenzie has a criminal record dating back to 1911, and has served two terms at the jail farm.
