15-year-old to be caned for raping Grade 4 pupil

A 15-YEAR-OLD boy from Shurugwi will receive three strokes of the cane after he was convicted for raping a Grade 4 pupil by a regional magistrate.
The teenager met the 10-year-old girl when she was coming from school and dragged her into the bush before raping her.
Regional magistrate, Morgan Nemadire on Monday sentenced the boy to receive moderate corporal punishment through three strokes to be administered by a prison officer at WhaWha jail.
In addition three years were wholly suspended for five years on condition of good behaviour.
The State's case was that on March 5 at Ndava village under Chief Banga in Shurugwi, the accused met the complainant who was on her way from school.
He started shouting at the complainant saying he wanted to beat her before dragging her into the bush.
The teenager pushed the complainant to the ground and raped her ignoring her screams for him to stop.
One William Ntabeni who was weeding his fields heard the screams and came to the complainant's rescue.
The girl went home and informed her grandmother before a report was made at Donga police post.
